This is for the new bloggers out there. The ones that are still struggling with their first post or first few posts. The bloggers who read what they’ve typed up and just want to delete the whole mess and forget about.
For the bloggers who spend hours staring at a blank Word document wondering what to type.
For the bloggers who, on the other hand, spend hours type more and more words and never really get to the point.
For the bloggers who can’t stop looking for one more mistake to fix, and never publish their post.
It. Will. Get. Better.
It’s true, you’re a bad blogger now, but all that’s going to change! It takes time to become a good blogger, just like it takes time to become good at anything.
When you first started your business, were you good at every other aspect of running a business? If you’re like most of us, there was so much that you needed to learn, and are likely still learning. Blogging is no different.
So start with the understanding that, with time and practice, it will get better. Your writing will get better. It will take you less time. You’ll begin to develop a natural rhythm for your writing that no only helps you with each individual post, but also helps you to develop a fountain of ideas and topics so that you rarely have to struggle to know what to write about.
The key is to be patient with yourself and keep blogging, regardless of how you feel.
Blogging regularly is the only way to practice and improve your writing.
Blogging regularly is the only way to grow your readership and get valuable feedback on your writing.
Blogging regularly is the only way to develop your own ideas and voice.
And your voice is an important concept that many of us struggle with, whether we realize it or not. What are we going to talk about? What tone are we going to take? How are we going to portray ourselves? Unless you are or are hiring a professional writer, that’s a concept that must develop over time.
So if you’ve written a post or two and feel like they’re really, really bad, that’s OK! Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t. But don’t stop now. Keep writing. If the feedback you get from others suggests that your writing really does need help, don’t be afraid to talk to a professional blogger for advice.
