In this content marketing series, I am interviewing some of the most amazing bloggers and content creators, and digging into their preferences and processes so that we can all learn from their example.
Today’s interview is with one of the most incredible pioneers in technology and media, Luria Petrucci. Luria has been helping businesses and audiences understand how to better leverage technology for years, and her live videos are the gold standard for content creators.
Luria is brilliant and a wonderful person, and I can’t wait to share her insights with you, so let’s dive in.
What’s your poison? Blog or Video or Podcast? Why?
LIVE Video! It’s the most powerful form of content you can create when it comes to building a relationship with your audience and creating deep connection that leads to loyal, lifetime viewers!
What has been your most successful piece of content, and why?
Gosh, that’s incredibly hard to answer LOL! Most successful piece of content in 15 years? Successful typically means number of views, but I’d say I have to look at it in terms of impact. What’s helped the most number of people or in the deepest way possible? I’d say my TEDx Talk had a pretty big effect on a lot of people based on the private messages I’ve received about it. And it was the beginning of my journey to discovering my true mission in life and with everything I do… helping people break free from Fake Authenticity and embrace being truly “YOUniquely You”!
How do you streamline your content creation process for efficiency and excellence?
I have a Content Manager and a YouTube Manager, and together we split up each piece of the content creation process. Doing this gives us much better results and removes the overwhelm! And even without a team, having dedicated days of the week to shooting content, thumbnails and social promotion videos helps us be super efficient!
Where do you get your ideas for content?
The audience tells us what content to create. From the questions they ask to the searches they make on YouTube, I’m always listening and focused on creating the content THEY want!
How do you, how do we put it… make money off this stuff?
My business is very diversified at this point, so we make money from our own products and services (courses, consulting and done-for-you graphics), affiliates, sponsorships, and more. We use LIVE very effectively to move people from viewer to buyer in a fun and engaging way that feels less like selling and more like a celebration!
What would you say has been a defining moment in your career as a content creator?
Over 15 years, I’ve had many defining moments!! And there’s one common theme to them all. That’s my willingness to say YES to an opportunity even though I had zero idea how to accomplish it in the moment! If I know it will drive my career forward, I say yes, and figure out the how. And I always find success in pushing myself beyond my current limits!
When it comes to content creation over the next year, what are your plans and intentions?
This year, I’m focused on getting much more creative with my content. Putting more personality into it and experimenting a LOT! I want to see what’s possible, not just do the same thing over and over.
Who is your favorite content creator and why?
Oh don’t make me choose!!! 🙂 It changes as I change what I’m focused on to be honest. I learn from so many people at different times, and have a network on creators who I can brainstorm with and lean on for support
What’s the one takeaway you want to impart on someone who, let’s say, is a blogging n00b. 🙂
Please please PLEASE don’t expect to be perfect right out of the gate. Strive for doing the best you can in the moment, but also understand that it’s new! It WILL take time to discover your brilliance… and always remember NEVER to try to “be professional”. Your content can look pretty, but your personality is what’s going to draw people in and make you successful!
